Ultra trail running
Ultra trail running
Running is one of my greatest passions, alongside my love for my husband, Matthew. My journey as a runner has been an incredible adventure, starting with my first major milestone in 2010 when I completed the New York Marathon with a time of approximately 3:28:00. This achievement sparked a deep connection to the sport that has only grown stronger over the years.
Some of the most memorable highlights of my running career include participating in the Valencia Marathon and the iconic Loch Ness Marathon. After competing in road races for years, I wanted to take on new challenges. In 2021, I began training for my first mountain run, beginning a new chapter in my running journey. This led me to tackle an off-trail Half Marathon in the stunning Faroe Islands in 2022, where the rugged terrain tested my limits.
In 2024, I reached another significant milestone by completing my first Ultra Trail race, the Laugavegur Ultra Marathon in Iceland. The breathtaking landscapes and the sheer physical challenge of the race have only fueled my passion for running further, proving that this sport is an endless source of inspiration.
On this page, Iβll regularly post about my running adventures.

Is it allowed to dream out loud? My ambition is to run the Ultra Marathon du Mont Blanc (UTMB) once. But before I can even think about taking up this challenge, I have set more realistic short-term goals.

Meet the βKevin VDSβ team
It sounds contradictory, but mountain and trail running is not something you do on your own. Meet my support team:
John Rooms (Footrooms) is not only my running coach, helping me become more efficient, but also a true friend for many years.
Tom Mertens (Kineworks) is undoubtedly the best (Olympic) physiotherapist I ever worked with. He keeps me away from injury and helps me build muscle power and strength.
Jany Tzakos is a truly remarkable osteopath who keeps my body in balance. I can always count on him to help me with even the most challenging issues.
Jef Vangeel is my go-to sports masseur to restore my legs after a heavy training or race.
